Postdoctoral Fellowship Cohort Program
The HSRU Postdoc Program, a flagship initiative within the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities (HSRU), is committed to advancing the careers of scholars and researchers who bring to their professional work and research the critical perspectives and experiences needed at research-intensive, Hispanic Serving Institutions.

Program Overview

The HSRU Postdoctoral Fellowship Cohort Program is a competitive, one-year professional development and networking
experience that supports postdoctoral scholars preparing for tenure-track faculty roles at research-intensive Hispanic-
Serving Institutions (HSIs). It is designed to cultivate scholarly excellence, elevate teaching practice, and promote
academic leadership within a multi-institutional, cohort-based setting.

Advancing Faculty Preparation at R1-HSIs

The program strengthens the faculty pathway at institutions that combine a deep commitment to student success with
top-tier research. It prepares scholars for impactful careers by expanding access to mentorship, visibility, and interinstitutional
collaboration.

Program Components

Fellows engage in a structured, cross-institutional experience that includes virtual professional development sessions,
monthly cohort discussions, site visits to HSRU institutions, and an annual networking meeting with campus leadership
and institutional liaisons.

Eligibility and Institutional Support

The program is open to current postdoctoral scholars at HSRU institutions who are formally nominated through an
internal process, have at least one year remaining in their appointment, intend to pursue tenure-track roles at research intensive
HSIs, and demonstrate strong potential in research, teaching, and service. Fellows are supported by their home
institutions through formal mentorship plans, protected time for participation, senior faculty liaisons, travel funding for
key events, and opportunities to engage with campus leadership and share their research across institutions.
